Paprika Chicken

Paprika chicken is a popular dish of Hungarian origin and one of the most famous variations on the paprikás preparations common to Hungarian tables.

Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp. vegetable oil
  • ½ cup onions, thinly sliced
  • ¼ cup green peppers, thinly sliced
  • 6 skinless chicken breasts (about 30 gm each)
  • 2 tbsp. paprika
  • ½ tsp. cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp. dried marjoram
  • ½ cup imitation sour cream

Directions

Cook the oil, onions and green peppers in a large heavy skillet over medium heat for about 10 minutes.

Remove the onion mixture and set aside.

In the same skillet, pan fry each chicken breast until browned, about 1 minute per side.

Return the onion mixture to the skillet, add paprika, cayenne and marjoram. Simmer for 5 minutes.

Transfer the chicken to a platter, mix the sour cream into the sauce and heat through (do not boil)

Pour over chicken and serve.
